Heart shaped tongue

Hello all! My 6 weeks old baby has a heart-shaped tongue. He loves sticking it out! Both feeding nurse and GP don’t seem to think he has a tongue tie. I’m surprised because I thought heart shaped was always a tie! He latches fine - maybe a bit too shallow- but milk does dribble down the side of his mouth when taking a bottle.

If the latch is fine and you're having no issues around pain or blockages then a minor tie doesn't really matter and there's no need for surgery.
My eldest has a heart shape, and she did have a posterior tie but it was never corrected. She has no eating or speech problems

Obviously also assuming your baby is gaining weight well and not having any issues with milk transfer too

Yes he’s gaining weight. He plays with his tongue and can fold it to the centre, if that makes sense?? Father can do the same.
