Hi
throughout my pregnancy my nipples hurt so so bad. Excruciating pain if anything touched them including shower or just a nudge. It wasn’t just sensitivity and it didn’t stop in the first trimester.

now that I’ve delivered my babies breastfeeding is so so painful. Pumping is also painful and the pain doesn’t go away, every time the pump pulls my nipple it hurts.
now I understand that breastfeeding hurts for first week or two and that it hurts when baby first gets on but I think with me there’s something more to the pain. I’ve tried to google to find out what it could be but am none the wiser.
has anyone experienced anything similar? Or have any advice ?

i guess the next step would be to see the GP or perhaps a LC (but they tend to be private and pricey)

I've not experienced it but wondered if you'd tried one of the BFing Helplines? They're free Wink

The first thing is to get the latch checked but another possibility is Reynard syndrome. This would account for pain in pregnancy. Easily treated if this is the cause.

It sounds more than normal even more than with a tongue tie I’d definitely go to the gp. While my child was feeding it was agony but when he stopped it would be raw but feel relief.

Felt like this for me. It’s only really died down after 6 weeks. I use to close my eyes, count to 30 and curl my toes when he latched on. Took painkillers too at its worst. My nipples have eventually toughened up.
