Mastitis and breast implants

I had breast implants under the muscle 4 years ago, wasn't planning on more children but got a little bonus baby 8 weeks ago.

Breastfeeding going well (lots of milk, baby gaining weight) EXCEPT I keep getting repeated mastitis, I'm in my 5th bout in 8 weeks.

I finished my last course of antibiotics 3 days ago and I have suddenly got ill and symptomatic again overnight.

GP and midwife have said it's nothing to do with my implants but I'm convinced it is... I have three other children that I breastfed for 2 years each and I only ever had mastitis once.

Has anyone got any experience? I desperately don't want our bf journey to be over but I can't go on like this.

I've not had implants but just wondering is the course of antibiotics is long enough? I think it should be 10 days?

Thanks @SiouxsieSiouxStiletto

The course I just had was 10 days.

In that case then I'd give one of the BFing Helplines a call to see if a VFC can help. Have you got the numbers? Wink

This is a little late to be of any help, but I just posted a warning about this! I developed a huge seroma around my under the muscle implant due to excessive pumping to try and get rid of mastitis. Spent almost a week in hospital! Wish I knew this could have happened before...luckily all is good now but it was total hell.
