Hi mums
Sorry for the long post!!
I have breastfed my 7m old from the start, it has been a lovely journey but I am ready to stop now!
I just wanted some advice around how to manage the transition best for me and baby (I don't want to express)
My rough plan is to swap one feed a day for a bottle every couple of weeks, I have a stash of expressed milk in the freezer but I don't think enough till 12 m so need her to get used to formula too!
I have decided to start with the afternoon feed and She took 3oz of expressed milk 2 days ago from the bottle and 1oz of formula yesterday
She eats 3 meals a day but I am just worried she wont get enough milk if she isn't interested in the bottle
She sleeps really well and I want to do it in a way that wont disrupt her routine
Looking for bottle recommendations as maybe that will help? We have tried MAM and Morrison's own (recommended by HV)
And any formula milks that are more likely to be accepted??
Can I mix expressed milk with formula to get her used to it or am I best keeping them separate?
Also how much milk should she be drinking as I don't want to expect too much and I don't know what she's getting when breastfeeding
Her routine for reference:
7am wake up
7:15 breakfast (porridge or weetabix with fruit- before feed as this helps with vomiting through the day)
8:45 big breastfeed
9am nap
10:30- 11am wake from nap
11:45-12 lunch (I try and do a BLW meal at this time, eggy bread, sandwich etc and a yogurt)
1:30-2 feed
2pm nap
3:30-4 wake from nap
4:45-5pm tea (usually a jar or something homemade casserole spag bol etc and a yogurt or fruit)
7pm bath feed and bed

She sleeps through with no milk in the night and only has milk 3x a day but I think she is getting quite a lot as she drains both boobs!

Any advice or experience would be so helpful as I want to do it in a way that is right for us
Thanks xx

No idea on bottle recommendations sorry but you could go straight to a cup at 7 months.

No. Despite what the formula companies would have you believe Wink

All formulas have to adhere to the same strict nutritional standards so you might as well choose the cheapest, most readily available.

Yes you can do this. It can be a good way to get them to accept formula.

Also how much milk should she be drinking as I don't want to expect too much and I don't know what she's getting when breastfeeding

BF babies this age take an average of 1 floz per hour, so I wouldn't expect her to drink more than 3 floz at this stage from a bottle or cup. In fact if you can get her to take 3 floz id say that was really very good and possibly exceptional.

And I think your plan of dropping a feed every two weeks is also very good. It will give her time to adjust to the new quantities she'll need to drink and it will reduce your risk of mastitis Wink

Thanks so much for your reply! I have never really looked into formula so that's really helpful to know !!
