Tongue tie and weaning

We have started weaning our 6 month old and I don’t think it’s going particularly well! He keeps gagging although this just could still be normal behaviour.

he had a tongue tie cut twice previously and it still reattached! So we decided not to cut it a third time as every time it reattaches the scar tissue is more tense

I have no idea if this is effecting his weaning. We have done mainly purée but also some BLW, he is able to spit food out if he’s bitten off a chunk that’s too big so I assume that shows tongue function is okay?

is anyone able to share experiences of weaning with a tongue tie?

Gagging can be totally normal as they adjust to more solid food.

Babies develop at their own rates and 6 months is a guide. Some babies are ready before this, some take a bit of time to get used to the idea.

Is he better with spoon feeding or BLW? Neither way is better and he might find one easier at the moment.
