Ds is 11 weeks and on the 98th percentile line. Has been breastfed so far. Have started doing one bottle a day. He drained 4oz and cried when finished then breastfed for another 15 mins

How much should he be taking in one go? Hope to move over to just bottle feeding soon.

You don't really have to worry about amounts until he's fully FF. Onde he is it's 2.5 floz of formula per pound in weight.

If he's draining 4 floz, I'd offer 5.

I had a 98th centile DC and when I switched to FF she drank a full 9oz bottle in minutes 😳

I would make up a 6oz bottle and see what happens.

Both my boys were 98th percentile for weight and height
Ds1 was bottle fed from 3 weeks
Ds2 from 4months.
I can't remember how quickly I moved on from 4oz with Ds1 but remember they both ended up having as much as I could physically fit in their bottles

I had a 98th DS. Would drain a 7 oz at 10 weeks i spoke to doctor about it and about putting him on hungry baby milk and the doctor basically said give him what he wants. Also not to put him on hungry milk as it’s full of wheat and can cause issues when older.

Ah thank you for the replies. He's on special milk for cmpa which seems really thin too. He's got more reflux on it. I had the sick bug the other day and it's really affected my supply so bottles are a god send atm. Even if it takes some convincing

Can I ask why you're thinking of switching. If baby has CMPA keeping as much breastmilk as possible is a good idea.

Stomach upsets can change their feeding patterns a bit (just like for us if we get a bug) by 11 weeks though things are quite established and supply will adjust as needed.

Of course if you want to swap for other reasons that's totally ok, I just thought I'd ask the question. My eldest has CMPA and I was lucky with good information. I met so many mums though who were wrongly told to stop breastfeeding.
