Help, honey!

My Lb is 9 1/2 months and I’ve just found out my dad gave him honey on a small bit of toast 😫 I never even thought to mention to him that he can’t have it! What do I do? Google makes me panic 🙈😪 I’m a first time mum so I’m so cautious!

Just look out for signs of illness. He will almost certainly be ok but just tell your dad not to give it again

Breathe. While infant botulism is a risk when honey is consumed, it's a small risk. Link to attached picture I can't find any similar guidance by the NHS but this seems pretty good advice. Try not to beat yourself up or be too hard on your Dad.

My husband and his Nan did this OP when my daughter was a baby. She had a sore throat and they thought they were helping, he came back so happy and I went into a total panic. However she was completely fine and when we called 111 they said they'd never heard of it being a problem before. When we got through to the medical person they said it's super uncommon to be an issue in the UK and just to monitor for any signs of illness for 24 hours. She was totally fine.

It was a small bit of toast, and your baby is over 9 months. It's a tiny risk, and not something to get distressed about.

Regularly having honey as part of a <1 yo's diet is what would be a problem, especially when very small, due to the risk of infant botulism.
