breastfed baby only chewing bottle

Hello, hoping to get some advice.. my DS is 14 weeks and I have been breastfeeding exclusively up to now. I'd like to start mixing in the occasional bottle of expressed milk, but attempts so far have just resulted in DS chewing the bottle nipple and barely taking any milk, and then getting quite frustrated and upset wanting the breast.
I will say he is definitely teething at the moment, lots of drool, constantly chewing his hands etc. He also has a teething toy that has nipple shaped arms (the chicken if anyone is familiar), which has been his go to for a while, so I don't know if that has confused him, as it's a similar shape and texture to the bottle nipple? We have the same issue with trying a pacifier, he just chews on it. The only thing he will suck on is the breast, so I don't know how to teach him to suck the bottle.. any suggestions?

Just for info - we've currently only tried Tommee Tippie bottles, with size 1 teat, and we've tried both me and DH with the bottle, both warm and cold expressed milk, and he has just chewed and got upset in all instances. Appreciate any help!

Had the same with my son, regularly tried bottled breastmilk but he only chewed it, I only kept trying just for peace of mind in case we ever needed it.

But he only started drinking it properly around 4 months I think. Up to that point I would squeeze the bottle to make milk come out slowly. The tommee tippee ones have a tiny bit of flex to them. Also going up a teat size helps with this.

I think you just need to keep trying. As long as he doesn't mind, he will eventually cotton on.

@Scramble1805 thanks for that, good to know he isn't unusual in this! I'm the same really, I just want the peace of mind that if I have to be somewhere else we have another option! I'll give the next size up and a slight squeeze a go, thank you for the suggestion! I will persevere and hopefully he will get the hang of it ☺️
