Sugar affecting breastmilk?

DC 2 is ebf, and normally a pretty happy content baby, sleeping 3-5 hours through the night between feeds. On occasion she has had bad wind etc and it tended to be on days I had lots of sugary treats but I didn’t think about it too much.

I’ve been cutting down to lose weight and she’s had no wind problems which I assumed was because she’s getting older ( 3 and a half months) but today (Mother’s Day) I went a bit crazy and had a ton of chocolates, a cookie and a yum yum. tonight she’s crying constantly, trying to fart and not settling. She’s fed once but doesn’t want to feed either.

has anyone experienced this? I know dairy is a common thing that can impact babies through breast milk but didn’t think sugar would?

I didn't know sugar could either, could it be the dairy in the chocolate or the cocoa?

Forgot to add, Cadburys chocolate has always made me DD ill, still does now years later.

Yes I think sugar can affect them, but cocoa can as well. I tried cutting them out when my baby was younger but it made no difference to his comfort.
However, having read this I'm tempted to try again as he still has unsettled sleep at 7 months. Might not have been as strict with it as I thought.
