born on the 8th at 1 min past midnight and did not feed for 14 hours. is now constantly on the breast but will not settle once off it.Milk is not yet through , have been feeding since 3pm.
Do you think a dummy would help or maybe a top up on formula

Perhaps I should have put in more detail: ds was at the stage where the meconium had finished and was 7 days before he did a normal poo - I did get him checked out - bf was going perfectly and clearly not a problem - really all I meant to say was - no poos at that stage is quite common and doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem so not to get worried. There are plenty of experienced mumsnetters who can advise as to whether certain things are a problem or not and who, on the whole, give out far better advice than the health visitors I have experienced.

robinia, the point is that no poos at that stage is not 'quite common' - truly! You are right that it does not have to mean there is a problem, but it is a sign there might be, so checking things out is important - just as you did

Glad you are doing so well, pud, BTW
