Me again… what are your thoughts?
Went to a&e last night as my LB who is 4WO wouldn’t sleep all night and the night before and I could hear sick coming in his mouth so suspected reflux. He doesn’t like laying down and always wakes up, bubbles at the mouth, very nasally on an evening, hits/rubs his face and mouth and little bit of sick up but not much. He was constipated this week so Gp gave him lactulose and gaviscon. He slept for the first night when on gaviscon Tuesday but it gave him constipation so stopped after a day and had to use the lactulose
Got omeprazole from hospital tablet form to dissolve in water today and she said takes a few days to work so to use a gaviscon this evening for his last bottle and then give lactulose tomorrow morning to keep him regular.
So today during the day… not had any gaviscon or omeprazole he was fine, no crying, slept and didn’t seem in pain scrunching his body up and going stiff etc. This evening he started non stop screaming and crying about 7pm. We gave the omeprazole and 1 sachet of gaviscon with his last bottle (spaced out) But now you can hear his guts bubbling. He has been winded and he is trying to poo/fart all the time which I think is irritating him. He has pooed today a few times so don’t think constipated just maybe gas?
- firstly does omeprazole cause constipation? I know it won’t this time but for future ref as I really want to avoid this like gaviscon caused
- is it common for reflux to effect baby more at night? He isn’t sick a lot so I think more silent reflux or is this colic?
- even though he has pooed several times and normal colour/consistency can lactulose still give him gas/cramps a day later when he has been ok today?
I’m wondering whether this could be colic being in the evening only? Or overtired maybe?
