18 month old won't swallow hard food

Is this normal or do I need to be worried?

DD is 18 months and fine with foods like banana, avocado, liver pate, pear, sweet potato, etc.

However with harder foods like baby corn, mince meat, fish, she still spits it out.

The BLW Facebook group always says "keep trying, she'll get it eventually" but I think they can be zealots about it so hoping for a more balanced view from MN!

She only has 4 front teeth which is behind schedule for her age. I think this is part of the issue but I know some people say it doesn't matter.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Bumpity bump.

I'm a first time parent and trying to get a sense of what is normal.

Are the foods you have listed above (eg sweet potato etc) served as finger foods? Are they very soft when served - just thinking of how a sweet potato could be a bit harder if roasted?

Will she eat something like a melty puff or finger of toast?

I'm just trying to work out of she's doing any chewing!! She should be at 18 months even if she doesn't have many teeth. My 1 year old has 4 too and chews with her gums xx
