DS 4.5 months weight plateau - CMPA?

Hi

I've been having my son weighed every 2 weeks since week 8 after his weight gain was slow, he was born on the 9th percentile and went up to the 25th initially before falling around the 4th.

Despite visits to the infant feeding team and multiple visits to the HV and appointments with the doctor around potential silent reflux we aren't getting anywhere.

DS is BF and feeds every 2 hours roughly for 10 mins plus. Lots of wet nappies a day and 2/3 poos daily that are yellow/brown however they are watery.

He also has eczema on his skin. He often wakes up at night crying and has never been a great sleeper except around week 10 where I had a few weeks of 4 hour stints at the start, he now wakes up every 2 hours (thats being generous) at night.

The HV today suggested cutting out dairy from his diet - does it sound like he may have CMPA to those who know?

Yes I think it does. The eczema is a big red flag for CMPA in my experience . I'd say it's worth a try. My son has CMPA but as I don't breastfeed I just changed formula . My biggest red flag for CMPA was his weight plateauing because he just was never interested in feeding and used to reject bottles and cry when we tried to feed him.

Definitely sounds like it could be the issue so it's worth trying. Like the PP says, eczema and slow weight gain can be indicators.

Have you read Dairy and other food sensitivities on Kellymom?

If you need any suggestions of what to eat yourself, just ask as I have CMPA too Wink

Thanks so much! I'm 1 day down if dairy free ! As pathetic as it is I will really miss chocolate and butter - what's the best alternatives

Depends on which chocolate you like! I love dark chocolate so it's not too much of an issue as lots of dark chocolate is DF.

Cadburys do some vegan chocolate and I had a lovely M&S vegan bar last week.

We don't use much butter, probably just in baking but we use Vitalite or Pure.
