Need BF baby to take a bottle in 9 days...

I'm having an operation (minor but under GA) in 9 days, and my EBF 3.5mo will need to be bottle fed for the day while I'm in. I naively thought it would be easy to get him to take a bottle as my 2yo was always happy to take the odd bottle (though looking back we were giving occasional bottles from much earlier on with her). I've just tried him with a bottle of formula last night and this morning, absolutely no interest! 😬 Any tips on how to get him to take it?

You may be allowed to have baby with you if your dh/dp can be there too.

I had an accident when my youngest was a baby and ebf I spent quite a lot of time in hospital and had to return for several surgeries while ds was under 6 months old and each time I was allowed him with me. Dh just looked after him while I was having ops and once I was out of recovery they let him stay as I had a room. Some trusts are really accommodating for ebf babies

good luck Flowers

Do you think baby might take breast milk from the bottle? Or is it the bottle that’s he’s not interested in?

First, don't panic.

Offer little and often to see if anything changes.

If not, try a cup. Some babies prefer an open cup to a bottle.

Finally get them to confirm how long you cannot breastfeed for. I'm guessing they are concerned with the anaesthetic passing to milk ... you might need to have baby in hospital with you and only not feed for the limited time
