Postpartum chills?

Does anyone else get incredibly cold and shivery whilst feeding?

I’ve had mastitis and it isn’t the fluey type sweats and shivers that I got with that. Is it possibly hormonal or am I just dehydrated?

Hopeful bump?

And another bump!

I’m feeling really ropey now, and DH is thinking we should call 111. I’m going to sleep for another hour and see if I feel any brighter.

Does anyone know - if I’m admitted into hospital, what sort of ward would I be put on, and will my baby be able to stay with me? Or will DH have to take her home?

Please call 111. Flowers

Let him call. How many days Post Partum are you? Have you checked your own temperature?

No idea what room you will get. Make sure they know you are (exclusively) breastfeeding. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will respond.

StarsandStones · 05/03/2023 21:22

Also, if your temperature is lower than normal, this may also indicate a problem.

Call 111

Your local trust should hopefully have a policy for baby coming with you but this is an example publicdocuments.sth.nhs.uk/pil1648.pdf

30 days PP. I had paracetamol and ibuprofen 90 mins ago and temperature is currently 37.3, which I’m happy is pretty normal.

I’m so frightened of being separated from DD.

Please get checked out OP.

I was experiencing severe chills after having my baby a few weeks ago. It was horrendous.

My local hospital still have Mums under labour ward triage care for the first 6 weeks post birth, I ended up back in hospital on the postnatal ward for a week when my LO was two weeks old. I ended up with an infection. Baby was absolutely allowed to stay with me but you'd have to check with your hospital.

Hi.

I had shivery chills too - hormones and an infection.

Then I had mastitis and had the chills again then. Went back on antibiotics and all ok now x

Despite a terrible night with a wide awake baby, I’m feeling a bit brighter - I spoke to a midwife who said to just keep an eye on it, and that it could be mastitis coming back 😫.

Thanks for the support.

I had this, albeit when I was only a few day’s postpartum, and ended up hospitalised with a nasty infection (DD was allowed to stay with me). Please look after yourself, my temperature went from normal to really high in the space of an hour, so don’t be afraid to call 111 or get seen if anything changes.
