Breastfeeding and periods

I'm still bf my 15month old DD ALOT!!

I am bleeding all over the show, not sure where I'm up to at all. Had no bleeding at all for first 12 months, then thought I had a period, then since then bleeding sporadically.

Spotting lots of days, having what seems like a period then another period 7 days later.

Full disclosure I have endometriosis and am awaiting a laproscopy but just wondering if anyone had had similar and it was just because of breastfeeding?

I would understand bleeding less bit bleeding more frequently Seems odd?

I'm 16 months postpartum with a boob junkie too. I only had my first bleed a couple of months ago, but since then it has been off and on, sometimes period-like, sometimes just light spotting. I think the prolactin suppresses menstruation, but as baby gets older and is eating more food/less breast milk gradually the hormone level starts to dip below what is needed to reliably suppress your cycle, and you start to get breakthrough bleeding/spotting, which is differs to the normal regular cycles you'd expect in someone with the much lower prolactin levels of a non-breastfeeding woman.

Thanks @pbdr

Thats really helpful! It's nice to know it may just be things sorting themselves out!
