How often does your 12 week old breastfeed?

Just wondering because mine sometimes feeds every two hours during the day (although can go a lot longer if we\re out and about in the car / buggy) and then goes for abour five hours then three and three at night. I remember the HV saying at the 6 week check that I should be getting him to go every four hours... that would be fantastic! but can't see that every happening...

HV know f all I am afraid Your DS sounds about right to me. Although I was not as lucky with the night feeds.

shho - sounds ok to me. dd went through different phases and when we were in the house she fed more - less distractions and easier access to the boob i think. at 12 weeks - she was still nearly every 2 hrs at night so yr ds seems to be doing grand.x

Yup, every 2 hours here as well, day AND night, until after 6mo when he was getting a decent amount of solids. So your lo is doing brilliantly!

HV is talking rubbish, as per usual. If you think about the last time you went for 4 hours without food or drink and how it made you feel you will see why she is so wrong. Babies at that age still have very tiny tummies and they need them filling regularly .

As a rule of thumb, try to ignore anything your HV tells you about bfing - as the majority have no idea about it at all. As yours has demonstrated.

You can get most of the info you need on here or Kellymom.com.
