Hello, I’m after some recommendations please. I’d like to get my 8 week old assessed for tongue tie in the London area. Will be coming from one of the channels islands, where my daughter has all ready been checked. However, after two months of pain, misshapen nipples, long and constant feeds I’m at my wits end. I’m a little hesitant to get the procedure done as I dont want anyone cutting it unnecessarily, so would very much appreciated some recommendations on a someone we can trust. I’ve asked my health visitors to refer us back to the ENT doctor but due to her weight gain “this isn’t indicated”. I’ve had various health professionals check our latch and they can’t seem to see a problem with it, but I wouldn’t mind getting an IBCLC while in the mainland assess us, if anyone can also recommend.
Ive been looking into, but not set on:
Dr Levinkind (Mixed reviews on Google)
chelsea green dental
london tongue tie clinic
Shes also been having chiropractor appointments twice a week to try improve the latch but they don’t seem to be working.

Try Anne Dobson, she's amazing.

Sharon Silberstein- Dr & IBCLC.
You'll get a proper assessment and support there.

Thank you. Do you know if she uses scissors or laser to cut?

@Lucia61 We had an awful experience with Ann Dobson - she uses scissors and it was an incomplete cut. When we had issues after the snip, she was impossible to get hold of - her aftercare is non-existent x

Carmelle Gentle and her colleagues at The Tongue Tie Centre in Balham are amazing and finally solved our issues with a crappy latch, no obvious tie and a generally fussy baby.

But, at 8 weeks you will need to commit to pre and post division exercises so I’d reach out to her to see what is possible if you’re coming from Jersey/Guernsey.

Also, anyone who doesn’t provide you with detailed post division exercises should be treated with suspicion. Division is only one part of tongue tie problems (as we’ve discovered).

Dr Sharon Silberstein is amazing.

I saw Geraldine Miskin as a lactation consultant who diagnosed the TT but not sure she does in person any more.

Actual tongue tie was cut by Mr Graham Smith who is an oral and facial surgeon here. I think he requires the TT to have been diagnosed by someone else (a breastfeeding advisor of some kind) first.

Was it a posterior tongue tie?

Yes

Lucia61 · 01/03/2023 19:48

Thank you. I am awaiting a response I sent today. Unfortunately something came up that meant I wasn’t able to get away. But all sorted now, so little ones latch is priority.
