Nipple pain breastfeeding *contains photos*

I have been EBF since birth and baby is now 3 weeks old. We have not had issues with feeding so far and latch was said to be good by midwives. Now I have found that I’m suddenly experiencing intense pain in both breasts/nipples before/after/during feeds. My nipples have become a very bright pink colour and are very sensitive. Could this be thrush? Baby showing no signs of oral thrush. Is it possible that there are also milk blisters on nipples? Second photo was taken right after 25 min feed.

Sounds likely that it could well be thrush. Often presents as sharp pains like glass splinters going deep into the nipple.

See the GP for some cream for you and some treatment for baby, even if they aren't showing symptoms.

I had thrush with my first and they were pink and then I was worried I had it with my second as they were pink! But in the second case I didn't. I wonder if at 3 weeks the nipples need to harden a bit and are just naturally pink for a while because of the stress on them? With thrush there's a clear stinging pain and sometimes evidence in the baby's mouth too.

I would say thrush too. I had it when feeding my youngest and the pain was hideous.

sounds like it could be thrush. I'd see Nurse or GP.
