11 week old feeding issues

Hi. My 11 week old (12 weeks on Thursday) is exclusive breastfed. The kast few days ive really been struggling with feeding. She keeps bobbing up and down on the breast and will not take a proper feed. She also keeps falling asleep during feeds when we havent long started trying to feed which is unusual for her. My concerns are she may not be getting enough milk just to this constant bobbing!

Ant advice welcome please. I've tried holding her closer and also different feeding positions. We really struggled with her weight when she was first born (she lost a fair bit after birth) but breastfeeding has been fab for the last 5/6 weeks and her weight had been going up. I am desperate to carry on EBF. Also just to mention, I've tried expressing previously and its not successful.

Thank you in advance xx

I think bobbing is quite normal at that age. They've suddenly got more interested in what's going on. A couple of things to try are:

breast compressions, the faster flow might keep her interest

And giving her something to fiddle with. My DD liked to fiddle with my earlobe but it could be your hair, a soft toy or a piece of BFing jewellery

Like all things BFing though, if you're concerned at all, please call one of the BFing Helplines. Have you got the numbers?

I follow a page on Facebook called the breastfeeding network and you can pm them to talk to a expert volunteer.
helped me so much through my journey, still breastfeeding at 20 months after a tongue tie ❤️

my little one used to sleep a lot at breast, it’s very natural to as it produces a hormone to sleep also. And they feed safe and comforted.

if worried about intake, maybe keep switching boob until a feed?
express by hand a little before latch

pumping didn’t work for me either, you definitely don’t need to stop breastfeeding but talking to someone really helps.

here’s some sites I got recommended a lot
