Best bottles for tongue tie?

DS got tongue tie snipped twice but still isn’t the best at drinking from a bottle. Only one that worked is Lansinoh bottles but the slow flow is still too fast for him and end up gulping loads of air and making his reflux worse!

Any suggestions as to which bottles suited your tongue tied baby?

Sorry you're struggling! Have you tried MAM bottles with a size 0 teat? My little one has tongue tie and these bottles helped a lot 🤞🏼

NUK ones were a winner for us. Very bad posterior tie not snipped until 5 months.

Thank you everyone. Just out of interest for the ones who used MAM, did your baby also have high palates too?

Mam worked for my prem twins, one of which had a tongue tie. Didn’t notice that either had a particularly high palate though!

Mam worked for my DD with tongue tie and a high palate. Size 1 teats until around 5 months then size 2.

@trrk thank you! Did you find it difficult to get your baby to have full feeds? Mine is a nightmare!

@SassyPants87 She usually took quite small feeds and went through a stage of snacking (taking 60 ml bottles quite frequently). Was never sure if it had anything to do with the tongue tie or she just had a small stomach. She has always been a very vomity baby so I didn’t push her to take more.

Hello, did you find anything that works in the end? I am struggling with my LO and he has been diagnosed with high palate. He has had tongue division but still seems to be having short/small feeds

SassyPants87 · 27/06/2023 02:02

@Artee05 we persevered with Lansinoh as that’s the bottle he accepted ( I was also trying to move him off breast). But eventually he settled on mam bottles. I will say however that my issue was more so his oral function rather than the bottle (to some extent). Have you been doing oral exercises since the division and seen an osteopath to help relieve oral tension?

one thing that also made my feeding journey worse was that I was unknowingly applying pressure on baby to feed just because I was so anxious about how much he was drinking. So much so that my baby ended up getting a feeding aversion which was slow and painful to overcome.

Hi how did you over come this bottle aversion ? I feel my baby is the same she will only take 2 oz then stop she is 13 weeks and every bottle has been a struggle for 3 weeks she was put on gaviscon at 6 weeks for silent reflux and that helped a lot then since 2 weeks ago she was put on omeprazole as gp wondered wether her reflux was stopping her from drinking aswell as gaviscon which helped but not much and has gone back to refusing the bottle after 2 oz again I dread every feed! same as you I’m worried I’ve put pressure on her with me worrying about her intake we get about 21 oz in 24 hours on a good day. I’ve tried different teats different formula different bottles a range of everything really she’s on size 2 mam atm but I might take her back down to size 1 mam! I’m looking at getting a private oral assessment as I know she has a lip tie unsure about tounge tie!
