Pooing only once a week, normal?

DD is 3 months old and since November only has one bowel movement a week.
its large and is usually a poonami resulting in an entire outfit change and half a pack of wipes to clean up.
In between these 7–8 days she has wind and it stinks, even an hour or two after she’s had a poonami the farts start to smell.
one dr said it’s fine another said she should be going more regularly
she’s EBF except maybe 2-3 formula bottles over 7 days
Everytime I’ve googled it just says it can become less frequent after 6 weeks but I can’t find any more info on just how regular she should be
Anyone experienced this?

It's within the normal range for a breastfed baby. The difference in opinion from drs is likely because he's mixed fed, but there's obviously a huge difference between two/three bottles a week and a 50/50 breast/formula mix. If she was on more formula there would be more concern.

I'd worry if she was bothered by the poo (or the wind), or if it dropped to once a week the same time you started the formula. Otherwise it's fine, and I think you'd know by now if there was a problem.

Not too unusual for BF babies. My 5 month old has pretty much always only ever gone once every 5 or 6 days. And yes, poonami every time. I'm not bothered because it is regular in the sense that there's a pattern.

Also farts smelling can be something in the mothers diet that baby struggles to digest. Certain grains, nuts, eggs, dairy. In my case if I eat peanuts then he gets very windy. Thing is he'll stay windy until the next time he poos which could be days away, and if ive eaten them since then the wind starts all over again without a noticeable break.

Completely normal. DD's longest was 12 days but anything between every feed and every 2 weeks is completely normal for a BF baby Wink
