Does this sound like reflux or just spit up?

Sorry if this post is long, I'm just not too sure what the best thing to do is!

My DS is 4 weeks old and has recently started being a little bit sick after feeding. Sometimes during, sometimes when we wind him and sometimes an hour after. It's not loads, but a noticeable amount. When he's taking his bottle sometimes he will totally guzzle it and be fine then others half way through he might throw himself back and start to whimper. We usually have no issues burping him and he does plenty of wet/dirty nappies.

We were having some issues with having him waking up as soon as we try to settle him in his bed which is why we thought he might have a bit of reflux with him being on his back but last night he slept perfectly fine next to me on his back for hours.

Tonight he's been a bit more unsettled and a bit more sick but eventually it turned into him being overtired and he drifted off. He's currently lying on the couch next to me sleeping away. I've no idea if this is just normal or if it's the start of reflux. Has anyone been through anything similar?

I should have added, generally he is a very content baby. Only really cries when he's hungry or tired until tonight where he cried before he was a bit sick!

Hi there ! I would say from what you describe it is likely spit up ( i have a reflux baby)
Not all reflux babies have very dramatic regurgitation and tears so I'd keep an eye.
My first baby had very dramatic reflux but for my second it was more subdued... however she was spitting up pretty consistently and after almost every feed. The two together led our gp to advise to try anti reflux milk to see if it made a difference and it truly did.
I currently do 3 anti reflux scoops and 2 regular formula for a 150ml feed
Hope this helps!

Definitely spit up, from what you’ve described. My GP with my first advised that I spill just 1oz of formula to see how big a volume it looked. It made me realise how much baby was keeping down.

Sounds like spit up tbh. DS1 was pretty refluxy and would go through a bib and 2 muslins per feed, we put him on anti reflux milk which helped a bit but didn't totally eliminate it. He wasn't sore with it, he just puked a lot.

DS2 spits up...we don't need to use muslins at all and a bib can go several hours without needing changed. It's just a small mouthful usually following a forceful burp.

My baby had reflux from about that age and we had to (and still have to) hold him upright for 15 mins after feed to stop him throwing up /refluxing in his mouth. he's also been on infant gaviscon for last 2 months z
