SMA Althera & Gaviscon

My 12 weeks old son was put on SMA Althera milk about 6 weeks ago. His poo has always been liquid, forest green in colour and potent smelling. Apparently this is normal? Can any other parent confirm?

As of last week he was prescribed Gaviscon for potential silent reflux but since then his poo is now much more solid (not hard but like a normal poo texture) however he is really crying and in discomfort especially in the evenings. Could the Gaviscon be causing this change and therefore the discomfort?

If the formula and gaviscon aren't working working I'd go back to the GP and ask for either a different reflux med or an amino acid based formula.

My daughter has been on this for quite a while now, her poos are green and liquidy however we have had a few in the last week that have been thicker and today a little bit grainy. She has Ben prescribed gaviscon for reflux and have tried mixing the sachet with her milk has instructed but is clogging all the tests up, has anyone else had this issue?

I'd start your own thread @Scoope1, you might get a few more replies

I have also noticed this with the poo! We had to come off Gaviscon and now on omeprozple as Gaviscon really didn’t seem to agree with my little one

Yes! @Scoope1 I’ve been struggling for days not knowing what it was buying new bottles nothing worked. Have been on gaviscon for a few weeks and fine in the. Titles with April Il but doesn’t work at all in this milk. Not sure what to do as she rly needs the gaviscon!

I know this is from a while ago but I’m just wondering if you found a solution to this? We are having the same problem and my little one needs the gaviscon for her reflux x
