Hi I have a 12month old ds and on one side feeding is realllllly sore now (nipple soreness)

have never had b feeding problems with this child

feeding on the other side is no bother

my nipple and his mouth look normal so i am presuming its not thrush

any ideas? thanks

Yep mine did... majorly HURT - like glass in her mouth.. throbbing afterwards.

she couldn't latch properly because i guess her gums were sensitive and it caused cracking. yes, it was on one side but not the other. look for damage to your nipple

hi oh right you guys are a wealth of knowledge!

cos I have not been feeding on the sore side but I had better start as water melon lopsided

can I ask determination can I ask when in your preg did this stop and was it just on one side?

and kiskidee how old was your little one and how long did it take to rectify?

thanks ladies

around a year. It seemed like it took forever for it to heal over but in reality it must have been no longer than 2 months. get some lanisoh. sometimes HVs have access to little sample packs and you only need a tiny bit.

it was on both sides but worse on one side. My dd1 was just under two. It started before my period was even due.. was confirmed pregnant around 2 weeks later and dd1 self weaned at 25 months.

mumofdjandp · 05/02/2008 13:07

thanks for info guys ill get some lansinoh x and try that as dont want to give up feeding but dont want it to be this sore after it has been relatively easy to feed him

i've just had exactly the same problem with my one year old DD, what i did in the end was change feeding position.

basically i sat on the sofa with her sat next to me, but facing the back of the sofa (if you see what i mean) and latched her on that way, thi avoided the sore part of the nipple and after a couple of days i could go back to feeding in the usual cradle position.

hope that helps

Have you considered Silverette to heal your nipple?

my nipple wasn't actually cracked but just really sore. The silverette healed me in the early days and also after bite's within a couple of days.
