7 month old chewing bottle

My boy is 7 and half months old, I need to return to work and would like him to start taking milk in a bottle I intend to give him expressed breast milk and maybe transition to formula. Every time I give him a bottle he moves it to the side and just chews the teat. He originally had a tongue tie and used the MAM bottles however, we haven't used a bottle since he was 4 months. Iv tried the MAM, Tommie Tippe, own brands etc. Yesterday I purchased nanobébé but he still seems to do the same thing. What do I do ? I also need him to take the bottle as iv tried everything to get him of nursing to sleep but can't and he wakes about 5 -6 times at night. So I'm hoping this will kill two birds with one stone but I don't know what to do to get him to take the bottle. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello, can I ask if you got anywhere with this as I’m in the same boat? Thanks.

@distressedmuso have you tried a cup? How old will your LO be when you go to work?

distressedmuso · 09/03/2023 17:50

He’s almost 4 months now and will be 5 months when I start doing one very long day per week with no possibility of working from home. My husband tried a cup very briefly last night with no luck but we don’t want to force the issue as there’s definitely a negative association with the bottle now and we don’t want the same with the cup… what a nightmare! Wondering if baby rice might be part of the solution?

Baby rice has very little nutrition. If you are thinking if weaning I'd go with some higher calorie fruit and veg. Banana-Cado is good.

Personally though I'd try the cup again.

There's a couple of articles that might help you too:

Oh and I forgot to ask, which size test are you using?

Thank-you for these tips! I tried 0, 1 and 2 😵‍💫 but yes I agree cup again could be our best bet.
