Sorry bit of a long one!
so I have a 6 week old newborn and we have had a tough time!

I started off with breastfeeding but changed to formula because baby was to fussy at the boob crying constantly and seemed to hungry. Changed to aptamil, he then was coming up in a rash, upset belly, constant crying and fussing not settling always bringing up his legs and generally not a happy baby! So thought I would try another formula as heard from my HV that aptamil gives babies upset tummies a lot.
changed to cow and gate but no luck he was still the same if not worse!

Took him to my doctors who just said if he does not improve after a week come back and he will prescribe some milk.
took baby up a and e one night after particularly bad time with him, the paediatric then said this sounded like silent reflux and prescribed him omaprazole.

after a week on omaprazole he was still no better no change at all so went back to the doctors who then prescribed nutramigen.

since then things seemed worse, he was constantly screaming in pain every time he needed to poo, pooing 10 times a day, sore bum, super congested. The previous rash had now disappeared but he now had eczema on his face and neck!

Another terrible few days of my baby screaming in pain again, not settling and barely sleeping so I took him again up a and e as doctors were useless! They did nothing and said he has bronchilitis that’s why he’s like this and said will clear within a week.

I then had a referral from the go to a dietician (Oviva). The woman suggested we go on sma althera formula as not many babies can get on with nutramigen. So we are day 4 on this milk and he is now again screaming every time he needs the toilet and staring if for nothing to come out this will be on and off all day till he finally passes as stool. Once a day! And they are now explosive, green in colour and have an awful smell!

Any suggestions please or anyone else had something similar?I really don’t know what to do anymore and hate seeing my baby like this!

I think you might need a referral to the Allergy Clinic @Alouise67. It sounds as though he's reacting to something else in the milk.

Thank you! Do you know how I can get a referral? My doctor is no help

I think you just have to really insist unfortunately. Things that helped us when DS was I'll were, taking the red book and insisting that they weighed him and recorded the measurements. This is useful for when a Paediatrician sees them as a baseline.

Dad coming to the appointment. It's a sad face that many Mum's concerns are only taken seriously when Dad arrives.

Filming a feed.

Have you spoken to Allergy UK on their Helpline too?
