Neocate problems

My daughter has laryngomalacia and reflux (both types, silent and vomiting). She is on omeprazole and infant gaviscon for the reflux.
She refused to feed from about 5 weeks so moved to aptamil pepti (elder sister had milk intolerance). Still lots of choking episodes etc so at 3 months started neocate.
3 weeks on this and she has developed awful eczema. Her tummy did seem less windy and choking has reduced but her skin is horrific and she is constipated. Not sure where to go from here, she's 5 months and I can't put her down at all she just screams. Nights are pretty awful too. We got very little sleep with her sister but she seems to be worse and at a loss as to what to do next. If anyone has had a similar experience be good to hear.

How long has she been on the gaviscon and omeprazole?
a couple of things to consider, gaviscon causes constipation so maybe try carobel thickener instead. Some babies like mine also have a reaction to carobel but for some it works fantastic.
what dose of omeprazole are you on? Some will say it needs increasing with weight which is true but the higher the dose the more likely your baby will experience tummy discomfort and wind which contributes to the problem. We decided in the end that the discomfort from the medication was worse than the sick and although he had bad reflux, by 5 months it didn’t seem to cause any pain so we took him off omeprazole and gaviscon and just stuck with neocate.
you can get something called lactulose or movicol to help with constipation but again can cause tummy discomfort and it’s another medication you’re adding into the mix.
are you under an Infant Feeding Team or dietitian to deal with the allergy?

Thank you 😊
She reacted badly to carobel, she is also a poor feeder and bottles take ages so it was totally impractical as it keeps thickening!! It just made her sick thicker too it didn't stop it 🤣.
She was put on the max omeprazole and is weighed every 3 weeks to adjust dose however we've not gone to max we have stayed on 2mg per kg. I think once we've found a milk that suits her (I am praying!) We will see if we can reduce this. Trouble is she has silent reflux along with sick reflux so there is a risk of acid doing unseen damage.
We are under paediatrician, dietician and SALT and ENT for her laryngomalacia (floppy larynx). Back at hosp Wednesday, we've seen Dr to check rash nothing serious or from an infection, he said unfortunately skin looks like a reaction to something in neocate but will wait and see what they say Wednesday.
I presume you didn't get a skin reaction with neocate?
Thank you for your help and time to reply I'm feeling at such a loss.

Have you asked for an appointment at the Allergy Clinic? It might be worth pushing for as she seems to be reacting to Cow's Milk Protein and now something else in the Neocate Flowers

Hey, my LO is 14 WO. He’s been diagnosed with CMPA and silent reflux. We were prescribed omeprazole and then aptamil pepti. He was still suffering with allergy so he’s been moved onto neocate (3 full days so far). His reflux symptoms have got worse and he’s now got a hoarse cough and actually brought milk up this morning. Has anyone had this experience with neocate and do you know how long it takes to resolve itself? I don’t want his reflux to get any worse. Thanks in advance for any help and advice :)

So sorry… I’m new to forum. Didn’t realise I was posting on someone else’s post. Nevertheless, if anyone has any advice, would really appreciate it :)

My little boy is on Neocate and has been since about the 17th Dec - it’s been amazing for his screaming / wind and he can now poo - but the eczema is awful and i mean awful!! covers about 90% of his body!! the last two days it’s starting to get better because the doctor has prescribed a steroid cream. I’m also using cetraben (doctor gave us it) but not seeing much difference in that! We are actually early weaning (he’s 17weeks) now to try help it all.
