6 Month old feeding issues

Hi,

I have a 6 month old who is gaining weight ok and is taking 4x 7oz bottles a day. I just started weaning last week. However he's always been a fussy eater, where he is hungry and takes the bottle but after a few sucks, he takes it out again. He takes it back again straight away but this happens several times during the feed.

Things to note:

  • He is on Mam anti colic bottles. Have tried the fast flow teat but he hasn't taken to it.
  • Have to wind him multiple times during the feed
  • Possible silent reflux but hasn't been confirmed
  • Has had teething symptoms for a while now. He also does chew on the teat and is chewing on his hands constantly throughout the day.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Now that he's 6 months could you try a sippy cup for some of his milk? He doesn't have to take milk from a bottle if he's not keen.

Thanks for the reply @twizbe. Today seems to be better after putting some Bonjela on. I think it's teething related so let's see how we get on tomorrow!

Try pain relief about 15 mins before the bottle, bonjela and teething powders
Also try the milk slightly cooler than normal might help soothe his sore gums

Ibruprofen is good for dental pain and we found Dentinox teething gel worked for us.

You can also give him a clean, cool, wet flannel to chew on if he's able to get it to his mouth Flowers

Thank you for the replies! Bonjela seems to have worked for us. Will also try the Ibuprofen.
