Quick question - Milk at 1yr? How much?

Dd only just turned 1 and I've been giving her approximately 17 - 20oz a day for the last few weeks. I plan to continue with a formula feed at bedtime and cows milk for her morning and daytime bottles. What do you think?
How much milk does she still need at this age? She eats well and enjoys a healthy diet eating the same meals as I do.

a pint i think ! not sure how many ounces that is! DD is 2.5 and can easily drink 1.5 - 2 pints a day,but she does not have juice or water.... won;t drink them ! how are you?

massiveNEWpantsface · 02/02/2008 10:15

thanks lulu - i thought you might know! dd loves water so perhaps I'll just see how she goes. 20oz is just over a pint...

I'm fine today thankyou - big hurdle yesterday, dd's 1st birthday, it was so incredibly hard but we got through it. Onwards and upwards!

a minimum of 350mls (approx 12oz) is recommended and 12-20oz is considered ok from 1 year. I would just switch all to cows milk as they dont really need formula now.

good to hear that pants x

Bear in mind that the recommend pint of milk includes dairy produce - so don't sweat if she has a lot less than a pint, but eats cheese, yogurts etc.

Ditch the formula.

massiveNEWpantsface · 02/02/2008 11:23

I didn't think of that, ok. Ditch the formula? I would but was just a bit concerned about the odd day when she might not have all her rda

  • bloody hell, I just heard myself -neurotic mummy PFB alert!!!
right ok, I'll ditch the formula!

lol lol what a schmuck!

lol

When you realise you have had a PFB moment it might be time to consider your first NSC.

massiveNEWpantsface · 02/02/2008 11:38

oh don't worry - I have had more than my fair share of pfb moments especially when it comes to her diet!
Now she is 1 I have relaxed a lot, but I guess I am so used to living by the rule of milk being the main source of nutrition and just wanted to get it right. That girl has the constitution of an ox anyway, so i really shouldn't worry!
