Hi all
is anyone here who has got devision for tongue tie for their baby and reattachment happened?

did anyone had this experience?

my LO had anterior Tongue tie, we got his devision done but there happened to be some reattachment.

we decided not to go for another devision but he is having a lot of feeding issues.

need advice.

We had reattachmeng after two tongue tie snips and the scar tissue was awful after the rest-division so we didn’t want to risk it getting worse. He didn’t stick out his tongue until 2 and can now move it loads aged 3. We took to weaning into solids like a champ and was an early talker (no lisp or speech issues). We have a 4 week old with tongue tie (breastfeeding but also clicky on a bottle) so I’m hoping that he’ll grow out of it just like his big brother. The tongue tie divisions both times didn’t resolve any breastfeeding or bottle feeding issues for us.

@poppet131
this is making me think not to go for another devision. What if reattachment happens again 😭
my LO became averse to feeding one week after his devision. I am not sure if it was devision or something else.
feeding him is a big challenge. He always refuses food/milk. He is never hungry never cried for food also he has reflux.

thanks for your post.
hope you LO will grow out if it and feeds well.

Were you doing oral exercises following the original division?

Have you contacted a tongue tie practitioner to discuss? Highly highly recommend Carmelle Gentle, have a look at her instagram. She's really the best tongue tie practitioner in the UK and she runs a pay what you can afford clinic to bridge the gap between NHS and private care so anyone can access her.

A lot of practitioners just do the division and that's it but my DD needed months of daily oral exercises to help strengthen her tongue and cheek muscles and learn to feed properly after her tie was cut and Carmelle does a weekly free zoom meeting to help with the rest exercises

I would still ask you to consider it. It's not too awful for dc. And could work well. If it doesn't you've lost nothing. Nothing to lose. I think it's worth a try.

I had both ds's done, both needed redone.

@AAAAT Whst feeding issues are you currently experiencing? Might be worth you getting advice from a specialist like Carmelle as @MrNook suggested. My older one’s feeding was worse after the tongue tie snip and we did all the exercises both times and they reattached. But it didn’t affect weaning and speech thankfully, which were our main worries really. He developed a feedjnv aversion as we had to do wound massage and he lost his suck fof a long time after so breastfeeding came to an end and we battled through with bottles (he never loved his bottles but loves cold milk in his mug now!) x
