EBF baby “snacking” - should I be worried?

My 4.5 month old is a chronic snacker. He’ll have a short feed, have a 30 min nap and then want to feed immediately again. He only feeds for 5-10 minutes. On the odd occasion when he does a long nap, he will then feed so much better whilst still drowsy - less popping on and off, takes a full feed, feeds for longer and calmer. He’s always been on the slim side (25th percentile) but weight gain was steady but has recently started to drop. I’m worried this “snacking” doesn’t help. He always gets more green poos when he does this too. Sometimes he just takes one let down and then suckles too.

I’ve tried distracting him to try and wait to make sure he’s properly hungry but it never works. Obviously I’m happy to feed on demand but is this behaviour normal?!

It's definitely working the realms of.normal. There are a couple of things you can do though like trying breast compressions, if you haven't already?

Have you spoken to a BFC too? They might have some information on how to extend feeds and some support for you.

My DS was also fairly small and snacked. It turned out to be Tongue Tie. Could that be affecting him?
