I have a medela mini electric and an avent hand pump (I was given both, didn't buy either) and also my own 2 hands. Tonight I expressed 10mls with the medela before it slowed down/stopped. Not impressed so tried hand expressing, another 10mls, thought it a faff, difficult, couldn't be bothered. Tried Avent hand pump and got 40mls so 60 in total. I thought the medela was supposed to be one of the best ones and electric better than hand pump so was surprised at this. ANyone else had a similar experience? ALso found avent more gentle.

I have also worked out the best time to have a glass of wine is during a feed. Couldn't possibly get to milk quick enough to effect that feed and gives max time to clear prior to next feed

perhaps the medela and hand expressing just reached your let down and the avent then reaped the rewards?

have got on best with medela myself - but still find it unreliabel at ttimes.

re the wine: i have never been bothered about wine drinking when breastfeeding....
