Baby- i hope you hav'nt been put off posting on MN.

I would just make bottles up with just the water and then add the milk powder when needed. Things seem to have changed since i had dd2 (2 years ago) ,i always 5 bottles up at a time and kept in the fridge for 24 hours. I would stick to what it says on the packet.

I used Hungry baby milk for dd1 (who was a hungry non-sleeper) and found it made no differance at all to her sleep but she took less feeds. I would stick to the first milk, im not sure how old your LO is, but maybe give him/her a snack before bed.

BabyJJ I've only just seen this thread today and want to say sorry I was being a bit flippant and didn't take notice of the fact that you were asking for advice. I am sorry and I hope you've found the advice you're after here.

Habbibu · 31/01/2008 18:35

It's Habb's occasional series, Flame. Like my own personal Oscars, and given out according to my whim. Feel free to ignore!

moondog · 31/01/2008 18:54

Sorry BabyJJ for being rude.
Didn't realise it was a genuine enquiry.
Hope things are clearer to you now.

FlameNFurter · 31/01/2008 19:14

lol sorry Habb - was thinking it was some MNHQ thing and it seemed far too fluffity

Habbibu · 31/01/2008 19:17

You calling me fluffity, Flame?

FlameNFurter · 31/01/2008 19:22

Just a little fluffity patch there

Babyjjbaby I apologise. Someone else said its like putting plasticine in a bottle and you asked how to make the bottles up so I thought you might be being mischevious.

I mix fed both my two, I would sterlise the bottle, put boiling water in (just water), cap the bottle tightly. I took it upstairs along with powder in a separate container. When baby needed a feed the water would be at room temperature, I just put the powder in and mixed it there and then.

I stopped sterlising after being pointed at threads on mumsnet on the subject.

I hope most other mners know me as someone who is usually lighthearted and gives decent advice so you'll know that my post on page one was not typical of me.

kekouan · 01/02/2008 14:19

.. just dont leave the kettle for longer than 30 mins otherwise it'll probably be under 70C

LadyVictorianSqualor · 01/02/2008 14:44

At least it says that if need be you can make them up in advance, just that they have to be stored at 5C so if you do need to do the ones before you go to bed then you can do that.
