Comfort Sucking & then Projectile Vomiting

Hi all, I am just wondering if anyone has experienced similar...my little lady (12 weeks) feeds to the point of vomiting at times (it's not just spit up, it's full outfit changes for both of us) she uses the boob for comfort and to fall asleep and its almost like she takes more than she can cope with when suckling. She isn't upset when it happens but it's hard when you have done a full feed, and then don't know if you should start again. If I try take her off while she is comfort sucking she wakes and is not happy.

Her weight is fine but she can have quite a lot of mucus in the morning and I know the nasal drip can make her gag at times....so I give her a shorter feed in the mornings until this clears to stop a vomiting session in the car on the school drop. 🙊

Any advice at all would be appreciated. Thank you!!!

I’d try a dummy… pop it in when she’s half asleep so she can carry on comfort sucking without having more milk.

Thanks so much for your reply, we have been trying to give her one but she gags and spits it out. Not having any luck with bottles either. She's a stubborn little lady

I used to wind my son half way through the feed. If I didn't do this he would 9 times out of 10 projectile vomit.
Good luck, I **hope you find something that works for your daughter.

My dd is 6 now but she projectile vomited all the time. It got a lot better once she sat up unaided. She’s still sick quite easily Eg if she’s crying she’ll start to gag sometimes!
