Baby hardly taking anything :-(

I have a 5.5 month old formula fed baby. She is on the small side for her age but in proportion. She has CMPA and takes prescription milk. My worry is that throughout the day she barely takes anything from her bottles. Maybe 2-3 ounces but mostly fusses around and wont take any more than that. She has a 5oz bottle before bed and then again in the middle of the night and she gulps those feeds down no problem. Could it be that there's too much stimulation during the day? Is it a sign she's ready to wean? I'm worried because even with the big night time bottles she's still only taking around 20-22oz a day which doesn't seem enough for her age. I only offer the bottle every 3 hours so it's not like I'm giving her it all the time. Help!

Probably best speak to your health visitor who could advise if your wee one is getting enough milk during the course of a day and if she's ready to start weaning.

So hard to speak to a health visitor or dietician. They say they will contact, send leaflets, visit etc and then never do.

My baby is EXACTLY the same and I would say to you not to worry.
He’s now 7 months and doing absolutely fine and still drinks small amounts.
It stressed me out so so much that he would only drink 2-4 ounces or like yours would happily just about drink the 5 at night but never any more. I’d see all these babies guzzling down ounces and be convinced he wasn’t drinking enough. We never bought bottles bigger than 5 ounces and at best would drink 25 ounces a day but often averaged 20.
We also fed every 3 hours and around 4 months he started getting distracted by everything and faffing about with the bottle and generally just not being fussed about drinking his milk.
We were told by our hospital Infant Feeding team a lot of cmpa babies aren’t fussed about their milk. It’s not great tasting and it’s just not their thing.
As soon as we started weaning though, it was like he’d been eating his whole life. He loves it!
As long as your baby is putting on weight, having wet and dirty nappies please don’t let it stress you out like it did me as it completely robbed me of enjoying pretty much most of those first six months.

@nugget22 how did you get on with feeding baby? My baby is 3 months and exactly the same! Won’t drink anywhere near his recommended amount and it’s just stressing me out!
