Our 1 month old has started to fart a lot and with a strong (what I'd describe as an adult) smell, having previously done so infrequently and with no smell at all. It is often and strong enough for the smell to linger in her clothes.
I'm aware developmental changes are possible and also of the impact on breast milk of diet, but it started hours after she began a course of Daktarin oral gel for thrush, and as we have ramped the dosage up (we were nervous to begin with given it is prescribed off label at that age due to the choking hazard) the gas has ramped up too.
So I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this link? I couldn't see it listed as a potential side effect.
In the last day, which is day 4 or so of treatment, her dirty nappies have also gone from sweet smelling to extremely pungent.
I guess it could also be caused by the thrush itself.
