Reflux.... so confused!!

What is everyone's experience of reflux?
For the last 4 weeks, whenever my (7 week old) baby lays flat, loads of clear liquid flows from her mouth. From Internet searches, this is coming up as reflux? She never brings up milk, it's always clear and it's soaks her hair, bedding, clothes and at night I can hear her choking on it, trying to clear her airways etc.
Doc prescribed gaviscon which did nothing, and now omeprazole which I'm starting on her today. But I still cannot find anything that says reflux can be clear liquid. Which makes me think it's not reflux at all???
She doesn't cry in pain, only pulls faces when she tries to swallow and never vomits, it just flows out from her mouth.

Has anyone experienced this?

Hi, OP. Are there any other symptoms?

JoanieCD · 09/03/2023 07:59

Are you sure it isn’t milk? Breast milk looks pretty thin so looks light in colour.
My 6 week old does this too, sometimes with v large volumes. He throws up his milk at other times too, like sometimes when I burp him, so I’ve assumed the liquid pouring out is milk too

Sorry, to be clear, the throwing up from reflux can be just the milk coming back up (pre being digested) or look more vomit like (congealed)

It's awful to watch isn't it. I had a refluxer (She's now 13) I felt so helpless when all she did was send back anything that we managed together in her.

Omeprezole is amazing... so hopefully you will see some results from that pretty quickly.

Just see the original date on this and hopefully @Jodielocks s baby is sorted out now (though probably still a refuxer)!

Have you been offered omeprezole @JoanieCD

JoanieCD · 09/03/2023 09:23

@LittleOwl153 I totally missed the date of the original post!!
No I haven’t, I was just told to try infacol for 2 weeks and if that doesn’t work gripe water for 2 weeks, but that neither has been prove to work so I’m likely to have to just wait it out.
id happily hold him and comfort him as best I can all day, but the lack of a few Hours of good sleep is taking its toll
