Note, my first ever post here and new to mumsnet
Switching from comfort milk to regular, can I mix the powders for a regular transition?
Baby is 5.5 months and has been on comfort formula for, I think, 4.5 months (tried BFing, then BFing with regular formula. She had awful colic and constipation). Her colic / gas and constipation has been long gone for months now, and I planned to do 1 of her 5 feeds with the new / regular formula, and the other 4 as comfort. Next day I'd to 2 regular formulas, 3 comfort, etc, till she'd completely transitioned. But she was disgusted by the new stuff and turned away and cried, I even tried a different teat.
I've googled about mixing the powders. I'd like to try 1 scoop regular formula, 6 scoops comfort, to do a super slow transition. Google results of people asking similar questions have said it's fine, but I rang the manufacturer who said not to mix it in case she doesn't get the right nutrients. But if the transition goes well, surely I wouldn't be mixing for too long? Has anyone tried this before? I'm happy to keep her on comfort milk till 12 months. Her happiness and health comes first but the comfort milk is expensive and I'm wondering if it's contributing to her constantly spitting up (she's a happy spitter but there is a lot of it every day).
FWIW I'm in the UK and use Cow and Gate Comfort milk. She is on 5 x 210ml bottles a day.
