Increasing milk intake

Baby is three months old and offered 210ml bottles every 4hrs but sooner if he’s hungry. Of that he’s probably only eating 150mls average, then eating sooner than the 4hr mark (which I don’t mind but is a waste of formula so costing a lot)

what I’m really struggling with is trying to up the calories during his waking hours so that he’s not waking as frequently overnight. I often spend the full hour trying go to get him to finish a bottle, which hr very rarely does.

any tips?

Just feed responsively instead and give your baby what he wants as long as you have the right teat size etc. Put less in each bottle to avoid wastage. Ignore the recommendations on the formula packet as every baby is different. They seem to me to totally underestimate how often small babies feed.

If you want to up his calories in the day and he doesn't like the bigger bottles, have you tried feeding every 3 hours instead of every 4? Some babies are grazers, just like some adults are Wink

Feed him less, but more often - every 2 to 3 hours. Follow his lead.

Make smaller bottles, if he finishes it you can make more and offer him it
