Restarting BF after 3 days

Long story!
I’ve EBF to 6 months but never enjoyed it - I just don’t like physical contact very much and although could do this with my baby for her good I never minded it. I started getting quite “touched out” after the 6 month mark - teething and impatience on her behalf let me to get bit and scratched frequently and I was dreading feeding.
My plan was to introduce formula slowly but she point blank refused bottles (I tried everything) for 4 weeks but refused bottles every time!

On Tuesday I had enough and went cold turkey and only gave formula (I know I know not the best way)
anyway in 3 days I’ve not pumped or fed her once and she took bottles happily smiling seeing one!

The problem is she has now developed a cows milk allergy and I’m going to have to re start after 3 days. I hardly eat dairy (one instant coffee in morning) so probably why it’s never been picked up. Weaning only has taken small amounts of dairy and so I’ve never noticed.

we’ve tried the cows milk free formula prescribed by dr but point blank refusal (no wonder I tasted it and it’s awful)

just need to know how to start building up supply again if any one has any advice

thanks
a tired and gutted mum x

Rest. Get into bed, take the baby. Have someone bring you food and drink, or pack yourself a picnic every morning.

Keep the baby at/by the nipple constantly and allow suckling whenever she likes. Give formula of some kind (in small amounts) if you haven't breastfed for three days, and reduce it slowly as your supply builds up.

You can do this. I hope you enjoy it more this time.

Yes after 6m breastfeeding there is a very good chance you can just re-start without need for any pumping plan or galactogues your supply wil just pick up again.

I’m sorry this has happened. You might like the short course from “aversion sucks”

Your supply at 6 months is really well established and will adjust quickly to their needs.

5/6 months is a bit of a wall with breastfeeding. It can start to feel very draining.

The good news is that you've started weaning. As baby eats more solids, they will naturally drop milk feeds. By 9/10 months you could be down to just 2 feeds a day :)

Work now on upping solid foods :)
