Alcholol!

I'm afraid I think I'm going to be somewhat of a pest on this board over the next coming months! I was wondering what other mums drink alcholol wise whilst breastfeeding. I've had conflicting information about how much is too much and wondered what everyone else does/did! We have a rather nice bottle of wine ready and waiting for this evening, how much of it will end up being DP's?!!

As I understand it you can drink but not so much you are really drunk.

have a look here if it's quiet tonight. I think that current advice is that you should treat it as if you're driving- if you get drunk then its an hour for every unit after you stop drinking. i think that some people think that everything in moderation is ok. Personally I don't drink and haven't since I got pg but that's my personal choice

If you're a pest then I was also one . In the beginning (first couple of weeks) I didn't touch the stuff but then would have the occasional shandy (don't laugh) or glass of wine. Don't know the in's and out's of it all but he's still going great guns at 11 months and seems none the worse. Plan to continue well into his 2nd year so going alcohol free for that amount of time was simply was not going to happen. I'm the cheapest date ever by the way as I'm ready to be taken home after the 1st beer - oh if the boyz from the Rugby club could see me now

If you fancy a small glass or two then go for it - I know I did and I felt it was well deserved after 9 months of bearing baby. DP actually bought us a bottle of champers and that was the best drink of my life so far!

It is fine if you don't go mad, a couple of glasses is fine in my opinion xxx

See I was told by one source that one/maybe two glasses but by someone else that very little alcholol gets into your milk so it isn't much of a problem. Don't think it would take much to get me drunk right now either! I'll look at that link now, thanks pixiefish.

there is lots on this. try a search on alcohol and bf with nickname tiktok. if you read the threads you will find links to authoritative sources - basically you need to be 3/4 times over the drink driving limit while feeding your baby for there to be enough alcohol in your milk to affect them. since dd has started going through the night, i have pretty drunk as normal during the evening. obviously that depends what is normal for you, e.g. i don't due vodka fuelled binges normally - yet
