Just to let you know I printed off the replies and packed it in my hospital bag (and then forgot about it but the advice must have stayed with me as on the 16/1/08 my son was born via the planned section and the whole experience went very well.. the staff were all fab and I got my skin to skin and the best possible start to helping us with BF.
Somehow ds and I made it through the 3 night hospital stay without the milk kicking in and a very hit and miss experience with latching on/successful feeds.. and yesterday the community MW told me DS is very lazy and has breast preference resulting in his more than 10% loss of birth weight but somehow in the last 24hrs things started to turn around and though not always spot on in feeding, he gained 4oz back last night and started to accept the Lbreast plus took expressed milk for the fist time from a bottle today successfully and then went back to breast with no issues.
So far things looking really very positive and just wanted to say a big thanks to all of you who replied to give me the confidence to believe that to BF my child could be possible after a CS It hasn't been easy, gone through the crying at 3am wondering what the hell I can do to help things work etc, but I am so chuffed and proud of the team work between my son and I to get where we are at this moment and for anybody else who wonders the same.. it can be possible.
I was also very fortunate to have ALL the hospital staff who I saw be very supportive too (unlike first time around.)so there we are I am on the way I think to success
