Eyes closed feeding ?

Hi all,

My LG is 5 months old this weekend.

When I’m feeding her (EFF bottle) , she starts rolling her eyes and sometimes closing them.

She’s fully awake before , she cries for her milk and accepts the bottle fully and after she is fully awake, she’s not being fed to sleep.
Nor to close to a nap time or just after a nap.

Does this sound normal? Is it her relaxing and enjoying the feed?

I worry because I believe she had a bottle aversion which, touch wood we are in a better place with now. She was rejecting feeds , it was awful and still gives me much anxiety.

I’m wandering now if this is her enjoying the experience.

Sounds normal to me!

@bluejelly thanks! I know it sounds awfully silly question!!

Not silly at all - babies don't come with an instruction manual Smile
My dd also hated bottles at first, so stressful! Thankfully it passed...

Totally normal. My DD will be 9 months on Saturday and still does this when she's feeding - I love seeing her just sucking away on her bottle enjoying the experience and bonding time we're having together. Beautiful 😍

super normal, my 5mo DD does this too when nursing! She’s not asleep, I truly believe she’s just in milk heaven and it’s overwhelmingly good, I guess I do the same when I take a bite of something delicious haha. I think it’s adorable.

My daughter is about to go off to Uni and you reminded me how she used to do this 🥹

My son has a bottle aversion and does this… I’m trying my best to keep him awake and stressing I’m doing it wrong. Did your daughter continue to feed well with eyes shut? Sorry sounds so silly but the programme we are following to get over aversion says that babies need eyes open and I’m so anxious about it all. @Catchingrainbows

Catchingrainbows · 30/01/2024 20:12

hello, first of all, I can completley understand your anxiousness I was exactly the same. Our program also said for eyes not be closed but I continued to let my LO close eyes when drinking as she was enjoying it. She knew what was happening, it was not a dream feed.
trust your gut, your baby, you have got this. Please DM me if you need to chat, I remember how it feels x
