Breastfeeding

Hi all. In need of some advice. I struggled to breastfeed my baby boy when he was born, so I've been giving formula for the last 6 weeks. Ive just massaged my breast and managed to squeeze some milk out. Do you think i can give some breastmilk on a sterilised spoon/syringe before feeding formula each time, just so he has the benifits of breast milk. I dont think i am able to fully breastfeed as he had trouble with latching and it was affecting my mental health. Or shall i just stick to formula.

I don't see how a squeeze of breast-milk on a spoon will benefit him to be honest because that's just the fore-milk and the "real" milk with the most nutrients and fats has not come out (hope you understand what I mean). So to answer your question I'd probably just stick to formula

Regarding the latching issues - Have you sourced any support from breastfeeding groups (La Leche for example) or health visitor in regards to the latching issues?

Have you tried him on your breast recently to see if he will latch again? I say this because my boy also had problems latching the first few weeks and then I tried again and miraculously he latched perfectly.

Lastly, have you been pumping at all. If at 6 weeks you've not breastfeed and not pumped your milk supply will just start to dry up so can you try pumping so that you can get your supply up and feed him in a bottle?

Wish you all the best x

@Eon I've started pumping, although i dont do it often enough. I did get some support at first from a breastfeeding specialist but gave up due to his poor latch.
