Hi!
I have a colonoscopy booked tomorrow and am due to start taking my PlenVu bowel prep at 6pm today. I have a 3 month old baby who won't take a bottle despite us trying very hard! I've been told different things by different nurses about whether or not i can still breastfeed whilst taking the bowel prep. i wondered if anyone could give me any advice?
I have done some research and read some reports saying it should be fine but if the experts from the endoscopy department are telling me no then who should i believe?
Thanks in advance!

Ah really @alicewingold were you able to complete the procedure? I had one with sedation 12 years ago when diagnosed with coeliac and I have no recollection of it but got told I was fighting it, so they didn't complete the procedure. I can't remember a thing, so no idea what happened. I don't want it to have to repeat it. Even just the whole prep is a nightmare!

I am due to have a phosphate enema for an endoscopy . I spoke to a pharmacist from UKDILAS who specialises in medications for breastfeeding mothers and she advised it would be safe to take in my scenario.

Hey! I know this is an old thread but I have a colonoscopy tomorrow and my baby is beside himself that he is being given a bottle. I was advised not to feed but the nurse but with no evidence. Can I ask what prep you guys used and could breastfeed? Mine is Moviprep.

just copying over this previously linked article which is excellent. Moviprep has a macrogol in it so as with all of those, no absorption and no risk to baby. In your position I would be comfortable to feed.

Thank you. We’ve both spent the whole night crying so far so he’ll be glad to get back in my arms!

Hi OP, I was given plenvu prep and nursed my baby as normal. Had sedation the next day and again nursed through the night as advised OK. My DD is 14 months but refuses a bottle and still nursing through the night. Hope all goes well.
