Infant Gaviscon shortage

DD has Infant Gaviscon with every feed and it's honestly made the world of difference to her. The problem is that the pharmacy (Lloyds Pharmacy) haven't been able to fufill her latest prescription as apparently they can't get hold of any. The pharmacist suggested there's a nationwide shortage, but I've not seen anything in the media about this. Is anyone else experiencing issues getting hold of it?

Yes I have. My baby had gaviscon in every feed until 4 months old when it made him so constipated, I decided to cut it out.
At the time (this was a month ago now) I had just gone to pick up some boxes from the pharmacy and they only had 2 out of the 3 I needed. I didn’t think anything of it as I was hoping to stop using it anyway (which we have now done) but it took 3 weeks before they messaged to say they had that last box ready for me.
It then made me remember that the order before that, one of the boxes was really shabby and taped back together and now I wonder if it’s because it was one of the only ones left in the store.
I’m surprised a month later, there’s still a supply issue! Did they say why? Could you try carobel thickener instead to help with reflux? Not ideal I know, my cmpa baby reacted to carobel so couldn’t use it, but I’m trying to think what could help in the meantime. Have you considered omeprazole?

If it's for reflux, I'd call the GP and say the the Pharmacy is unable to fulfil the prescription and you need an alternative anti-reflux med.

Thank you all for your help Smile

@onedream thank you so much for your offer. Fortunately I've now managed to get hold of enough for the next two months and I'm hopeful that DD might start to grow out of her reflux by 5-6 months or this intermittent supply issue might start to resolve. The pharmacist confirmed this is a nationwide supply issue, so I'm sure there will be plenty of panicking families near you who you could help with those boxes. But thank you again for offering to help us Flowers

Don’t want to piggyback on your post so apologies, but I have just had the same issue. Took us ages to find a combination that worked for my son (nutramigen and gaviscon infant). Went to the pharmacy to collect prescription and I’ve been told that I won’t be able to get the gaviscon OR the nutramigen anywhere? Does anyone know why this is, other than that there is a national shortage… why is there a national shortage?
