Called BFN today as I am getting awful pain in my nipples (feel like I've got 100 needles poking into me) and deep breast pain. Told the BFC that I previously was on a course on antibiotics and she thought I probably had thrush and suggested Daktarin. Went to the pharmacy and they gave me the one they sell over the counter - is this the same as the one the GP prescribes and ok to used on 4 week old? Unfortunatly the pharamacist said he's nver heard of Daktarin being used for nipple thrush and couldn't advise.

Been told to visit my GP on Monday as DD2 will prob need to be treated.

(Sorry to rush - can hear DD2 on the monitor crying...)

Did you get the oral gel or the other cream?
I am just asking as different rules would apply, if you know what I mean!

Either would/could be described by a GP if you have thrush

Yes - regular Daktarin for the nipples and Daktarin oral gel for DS's mouth. Both prescribed by my GP but also available over the counter. It worked eventually - nipples were easier to sort out than poor DS's tongue (I think one needs to use a larger dose of oral gel than one might think), which took about a month or longer to clear up.
