Night Weaning

Hello 👋 looking for advice on night weaning and your experiences

DD is 17 months and seems to understand quite a lot, I thought maybe we could begin with reading her a book maybe? I have noticed that in the last month she will sometimes go back to sleep with just a cuddle.

We co-sleep at the moment, but we have bought her a floor bed with the intention of very slowly moving her into her own room. I think maybe just starting the night off in there and then bringing her in with us after her first wake up initially.

We are not in a rush but I would like another child but I couldn't manage being pregnant atm with the amount of wake ups in the night. Obviously night weaning isn't a guarantee for sleep, but I feel like I would like to think about trying in the next few months.

What's your experience?

For me, moving them into their own room, it was too small for us to sleep in there, massively dropped the number of wakings.

Once we'd made the move, they only came back into our bed if they were ill.

Have you read the Dr Jay Gordon's night weaning method? It's very gentle and sounds like it might suit you Wink

Thank you for reply. I have read that but I will look in to it. We have recently got her a floor bed for her room so we are going to try and see how we get on
