Biting/Breastfeeding

Are some babies just biters?

DC2 is 9m and got first two teeth at the same time about a month ago. The biting during breastfeeding started around that time and has gotten worse and worse. I've basically stopped offering the breast in the day other than twice a day because they weren't feeding the other times, just biting all the time. At night they were not biting but the last week or so has started biting then, last night both their usual night feeds just bit me and cried, one of my nipples was bleeding. I think I've made my peace with weaning them slowly onto formula for a range of reasons, and I've already started to do that, but just posting in case anyone has any last-ditch advice that might help us keep going.

I've been advised end the feed immediately, push his face into me, make sure he's snuggled in close, skin-to-skin, pump and feed the EBM in a bottle (can't get more than about half an oz after 30 mins so not feasible)...I've tried absolutely everyting for about a month now and it's just getting worse, he just sinks his teeth in, clamps down and looks at me and it is so so painful!

Hello, just posting to see what you ended up doing as my little one is doing exactly the same just turned 9 months. It's been a few days now and my supply is really struggling as I've had to take him off so many times due to the biting and stop the feed. I don't want to increase bottles and struggle to find the time to pump but worried that's going to be forced on me. I'm not ready to stop breastfeeding so it's making me quite sad.

Hello! I didn't find anything to help I'm afraid, I did go to breastfeeding support groups but they just told me all the things in my post. I couldn't really pump and didn't really want to do I just continued to wean on to formula. By 10 months he was formula fed in the day but would often have a breastfeed or two at night, but then started sleeping through (for only a few weeks!! But that's a different story!).

Sorry I don't have any advice, although I will say that I was not unhappy to be weaning him tbh and felt I'd done a good stretch that I was proud of. He started nursery at 10.5 months too so it did make that easier as well.
